1949 Ford Custom Convertible

The 1949 Ford was an American automobile produced by Ford. It was the first all new automobile design introduced by the Big Three after World War II, civilian production having been suspended during the war, and the 1946-1948 models from Ford, GM, and Chrysler being updates of their pre war models. Popularly called the "Shoebox Ford" for its slab sided, "ponton" design, the 1949 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders and more.

For auction, a 1949 Ford custom convertible presented in barn find condition. This car has no engine and has been exposed to the elements for a while with mere hints of a once great design in its weathered shell.

Exterior
The exterior pale yellow paint is now heavily cracked and peeling and inundated with rust. The epic front grille with torpedo detail and bumper are still there along with the light rings around the headlights and hood ornament. The rear bumper is present but rusty but the ornate piece above the license plate might be salvageable, along with other pieces of hardware. All visible glass is intact including the two part windshield.

Interior
The interior is rough with all material gone from the front seat leaving springs and frame exposed and rusty. The steering wheel is faded, cracked, and missing parts and the dash is rusty around a relatively intact but weathered instrument cluster in the center. There is also an added twin gauge pod under the dash along with a vintage heater. The convertible top is essentially non-existent although the frame is still present and rusted.

Drivetrain
There is no engine in the car.
