1948 Ford F2 ¾ Ton Pickup
The 1948 Ford F2 is a 3/4 ton pickup truck, part of Ford's first generation F-Series, known as "Bonus Built" trucks. These trucks were offered in various designations based on gross vehicle weight ratings, including the F-1, (1/2 ton), F-2 (3/4 ton), and F-3 (also 3/4 ton, but a heavy duty variant). The F-2 was offered in both pickup and panel van configurations.
Up for auction is a 1948 Ford F2 ¾ ton pickup truck showing 2,568 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The truck presents in good condition, however it does not have keys.
Exterior
This classic truck is covered in white but the black fascia is a standout with the grille and lights assembly well within the front clip that connects the fenders, a design that would only last two years beyond this truck. The rounded cab is topped with a row of amber cab lights and the small back window overlooks a black bed topped with a rubber mat while black wood also makes the bed stake sided. 16-inch American Racing ATX series wheels add some chrome highlights to the truck and a diamond steel battery box is affixed to the black running board on the passenger side.
Interior
White painted doors have a contrasting black access panel and welcome you into a pair of gray cloth bucket seats from the modern era in good condition. A simple steering wheel leads to a black backed instrument cluster with some AutoMeter gauges and the speedometer resides in the center of the dash just above the vertically mounted shifter. Black carpet covers the floor and is in good condition.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, all mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic sending power to the Dana 44 rear axle. Drum brakes are employed on the front and rear wheels.
Undercarriage
Dual exhaust carries a pair of Cherrybomb mufflers and leaf springs occupy the front and rear suspension.
Drive-Ability
We are unable to test this car since it does not have keys.
