1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

The Cadillac Eldorado has always been a trend setter. The personal luxury car market segment that Cadillac created with the Eldorado was growing. The front wheel drive version was going through its very first redesign with the 1971-1972 models. It was a completely new Fleetwood Eldorado not only in design but also in spirit. The Fleetwood Eldorado was available as a coupe and a luxury convertible replacing the DeVille convertible series. The “Standard of the World” was still the luxury leader and the Fleetwood Eldorado was still unmistakably a Cadillac. The last Eldorado convertible rolled off the line on April 22nd 1976, the end of the drop top era for a few bleak years.

Up for auction is a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible showing 41,868 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car cranks and runs on 2+2.

Exterior
The exterior presents in nice condition, including the Florentine Gold Firemist paint and the tan canvas convertible is in excellent condition. The dramatic profile of the car is accentuated with decorative wheel covers that feature the Cadillac crest and are wrapped in 235/75R15 tires. Big chrome still makes an appearance in the mid 70's and the front bumper is a testament to that. In back, light bars act as the tail lights and vertical lights on the ends define Cadillac.

Interior
Leather and plastic in tan contrasts handsomely with the simulated wood grain inserts on the door panels and the luxury laden door are finished with a carpeted kick panel delineated by polished trim. Wide tuck and roll is used on the tan leather split bench seat and both driver and passenger have electric controls. The rear seat mirrors the color and material and the tufted leather appears supple and clean. Up front, a horizontal speedometer is situated at the end of the steering column while all switchgear and the AM/FM cassette radio reside in the wood applique' backed mid panel of the dashboard. The camel carpet below is protected by Cadillac branded mats.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 500ci V8, fairly clean, and rated at 215 horsepower. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and mated to a TH425 3-speed automatic transmission, power is kept up front and routed through 2.73 gears. Power disc brakes are found at all four wheels.

Undercarriage
Suspension consists of torsion bars up front and a 4 link with coil springs in the back. Dual exhaust flows through stock style mufflers.
